Teaching Philosophy
One of the things I find so interesting about the academic environment is that one encounters such a variety of interests, talents, and backgrounds through interactions with colleagues and students. As such, I believe that active student involvement is key to a successful and challenging experience for instructor and student alike. I believe the role of the teacher is to not only impart knowledge of the subject at hand, but also to foster an environment that challenges the student to tap his/her scholarly curiosity, practice critical thinking skills, and effectively apply the subject matter beyond the classroom.
Outside Interests
Reading, gardening, volunteering and travel.
