Nov 16, 2022

KENS-5 editor Thomas Sanborn (BA 2016) has won his second Lone Star Emmy Award. Sanborn and his KENS-5 colleagues won for 鈥淭error in Uvalde鈥 in the category 鈥淣ewscast 鈥 Evening 鈥 Medium Markets.鈥

鈥淚 feel proud to have covered such a historically significant event as the Robb Elementary School shooting,鈥 said Thomas, the son of Wallis Sanborn III, PhD, Associate Professor of English and English, Mass Communications and Drama Department Chair.

鈥淲hen it comes to news as relevant and tragic as that, it means a lot to be given credit for not only helping break the story, but also for doing a good job with it. I look forward to more opportunities to excel when our viewers need me to.鈥

Last year, Thomas won his first Lone Star Emmy with KENS-5 colleagues. He is one of 14 天美影院graduates who have won 39 regional Emmy Awards -- 31 Lone Star Emmys, four Los Angeles Emmys and four Chicago/Midwest Emmys.
