Michelle Avila (BBA 1993), CPA, associate professor of accounting and accounting program head, has been selected as a recipient of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accounts (TXCPA) Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.
The Outstanding Accounting Educator Award recognizes Texas accounting educators who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and have distinguished themselves through active service to the accounting profession.
The award consists of a plaque, $500 and recognition during the TXCPA mid-year Board of Directors Meeting. TXCPA Chairman Jerry Spence will present the award via Zoom on Jan. 27.
“I am humbled to have been nominated and to have received this award,” Avila said. “This award is not just for me. It is for my students, faculty, staff and the university. It has been many years of hard work and continuously trying to motivate, transform and guide students.
“At OLLU, many of my colleagues believe and live out the university mission. So, this award is dedicated to all faculty and staff who dedicate their careers to motivate and transform students’ lives.”
