Teaching Philosophy
As a Professor, I have had the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate students over nearly two decades. For me, teaching is the art of facilitating and awakening students’ natural curiosity and creativity and providing the tools that allow them to systematically investigate factors that influence behavior and derive solutions that lead to the betterment of life. I find that my students learn best when they have the opportunities to reflect on their personal and professional experiences and to understand how the course content relates to them, their groups, their organizations, and their communities. This allows them to deconstruct their individual notions of causal factors and related events, replacing them with novel ideas and research interests. I also seek to create spaces in my classroom in which students feel free to express themselves and seek to understand and respect one another’s unique abilities, experiences, and perspectives.
